Our client is a prominent firm of accountants and tax advisers, based in the heart of Winchester. They have built a particularly strong reputation for advising landed wealth and HNW families, as well as serial entrepreneurs, business owners and UK res non doms.

The team is busy, growing and keen to make an additional appointment at Senior Manager level.

The incoming individual will take responsibility for a dynamic portfolio of HNW private clients. They will oversee complex personal tax compliance matters and also get involved with ad hoc capital taxes planning work. This is very much a client-facing role, requiring strong communication and relationship management skills.

The CTA qualification is desirable and you will certainly have extensive experience of advising wealthy clients on IHT, CGT and trusts. Experience of domicile, residence and remittance would also be valued. 

The team operates hybrid working with advisers typically in the office three days a week. Salary will be dependent on experience but likely to be in the region c.£75,000 - £85,000.

Demand for their expertise continues to grow and they are keen to recruit an EA/ATT dual-qualified Manager, to provide personal tax advisory and compliance services as a strategic member of the team.

You’ll take responsibility for a HNW client portfolio as their primary point of contact. You’ll also work closely with some of the profession’s leading US/UK Partners, who will support you with your own progression towards Senior Manager and Director grades.

The role requires a strong technical grasp of US and UK personal taxation, gained in a leading UK tax team. It would suit either an existing Manager seeking a new challenge, or a talented Assistant Manager ready to step up to Manager grade.

You’ll have gained the EA and ATT qualifications, but the role also requires excellent client relationship management skills and a commercial approach to WIP, recoverability and identifying new business opportunities.

Liaising directly with clients, you will assist with the day to day running of investigations, as well as preparing investigation reports and submissions to HMRC. Ultimately ensuring satisfactory outcomes are reached for all parties.

Strong communication skills, combined with personal tax technical knowledge, are therefore essential.

The successful candidate is likely to be CTA qualified (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate experience of working on tax investigations, as well as a willingness and ability to develop their skills in that area. COP8/9 experience will be particularly valued.

You could be a private client tax professional with experience of tax investigations and looking to specialise in that field. Alternatively, you could already be working in a Tax Dispute Resolution team and be looking for the next step in your career.
